Welsh Financial Services Graduate Programme Case Study: Emily Jones

Emily Jones

Cardiff University graduate, Emily Jones, 25, applied to the Wales Financial Services Graduate Programme to develop a new career in the finance sector after previously working in clinical psychology.

Since joining the programme, Emily has taken part in a range of placements including a business development role at Finance Wales, a marketing research role at Grant Thornton and a product role at Admiral.

Emily said: “I was attracted to the Welsh Financial Services Graduate Programme because it offers such a unique opportunity. To get the chance to work for different and highly reputable financial services employers whilst also gaining a fully-funded Masters qualification is very hard to come by.

“My day-to-day work was always varied and no two days were the same – something that really suited me and the way I like to work.

“I’ve recently secured a permanent role back at Finance Wales – where I completed my first placement – working in their Technology Venture Investments department. It’s great to be back working at the organisation where I enjoyed my first placement, and it’s exciting learning about the equity investment process. I think my placement at Finance Wales really sparked my interest in investments, and now I’m ready and excited to learn more and start my career!”

Mae cyfleoedd i weithio i wahanol gyflogwyr ym maes gwasanaethau ariannol, sydd i gyd ag enw da, tra hefyd yn astudio tuag at ennill cymhwyster gradd Meistr yn brin iawn.

“Roedd fy ngwaith o ddydd i ddydd yn amrywiol iawn gyda phob diwrnod yn wahanol. Roedd hyn yn fy siwtio i a fy ffordd o weithio.

Mae’n braf cael bod yn ôl yn y sefydliad lle wnes i fy lleoliad cyntaf a’i fwynhau, ac mae’n gyffrous cael dysgu am y broses o fuddsoddi ecwiti. Dw i’n meddwl mai fy nghyfnod ar leoliad yn Cyllid Cymru wnaeth ennyn fy niddordeb mewn buddsoddiadau, ac erbyn hyn dw i’n barod ac yn edrych ymlaen at ddysgu mwy ac at ddechrau fy ngyrfa!”
